We endeavour to find the best carers in your area and help you to select the ones that suit you. We provide you with the process and online assistance to work with them. Finally we manage the contracting and payment process in a secure manner so that you don't have to worry.

About us

The idea behind Helper started in 2015 when James visited his mum for dinner. Rather than being her usual cheery self, she was clearly upset. During conversation it quickly became apparent that her role as his grandad’s principal carer was causing her a great deal of stress and grief. During his grandfathers care, a number of care agency staff visited him. These were expensive and poorly trained. Even when she found a carer that worked well, they were soon replaced due to scheduling constraints or other issues. He realised that this was a deeply embedded issue in old-fashioned care agencies.

When James’ mum confided in her friends, she was told about the benefits of using independent carers. Upon trying them however, the work involved in scheduling and administrating independent care was a burden for her to manage. As the problem played out in his head, James knew there had to be a solution that took advantage of the technology he had grown up with and so Helper was founded. His goal; to give people access to high quality care at an affordable price.

I started this business to care for the vulnerable in our society. I saw the way the care system fails patients, families and workers and want to fix that. I also enjoy watching rugby and reading about economics and history.

We believe in a better model of care

How it works

We've found the best carers in your area and run background checks to ensure your safety. We then interview them in person to give you the best possible experience with Helper.

This leaves you with 4 simple steps

Once you have found a carer that you would like to work with, you can send them a message to discuss booking a visit. If you are not signed up as a client, you will be asked to register before sending your first message.

It's important to communicate the specific needs you require from a carer as well as alleviating any concerns and ensuring you feel comfortable with this carer.

Once you are happy you can then use Helper tools to book a visit with this person. Your first visit with each carer will be free and should be used as an introductory visit to ensure you are comfortable receiving care from this carer.

We recommend you use your introductory visit to get to know the carer and ensure you feel comfortable with this person.

It's also a great time to go through any details specific to the care required to ensure your first paid visit goes smoothly.

If all goes well, you can discuss the details of your next visit, but please ensure it's booked through the Helper website to guarantee the visit and carer are insured.

Following your visit, you'll receive a report from your carer. This will give you a full picture of the work that has been done and any issues that may have arisen.

We will also ask you to leave feedback on the visit. This helps both the carer and Helper continue improving the care we offer. If there are any issues, you can contact us through our contact form or in the Facebook Chat on each page.

You can then use Helper to book further visits with this same carer, or have another browse of our carer catalogue to find someone more suitable for your needs.
